The municipal flag of Slochteren was adopted 15 Mar 1965 by municipal
resolution. Description: five equally wide horizontal stripes blue - white
- red - white - blue, with over all a black sea-dragon, armed red, spitting
a yellow flame, with a height of 5/6 flagheight.
The colors are derived from the municipal arms. The discovery of a
huge deposit of natural gas has been represented by the sea-dragon.
