website.
Arms granted 12 Jan 1960. Explanation: "Physiologus" tells about the
pelican that she killed her chicks with one well-directed flap of her wings,
when they became too unruly. After three days she pecked herself in her
breast, and with the blood flowing from it she sprinkeled her chicks, who
became alive again.
