By municipal resolution of 25 October 1990, #429, the flag of Rijnwaarden was adopted, after it had been granted by the 'Hoge Raad van de Adel' by a letter dd. 28 August 1990.

Description of the flag: Three stripes YRW, over which a blue hoist triangle. Height and length relationship: 2:3. This flag was designed by the artist Tonny Ross, who lived and worked in Lobith. The flag is mainly based on the flag of the former commune Herwen en Aerdt. The abolished commune Pannerden had no flag. The blue triangle symbolises the location of the commune Rijnwaarden at the Bovenrijn.
* Tiles refer to the many tile works in the region; the barrier is of course for the frontier which used to be there between the Netherlands and Germany.
