Zwagerbos village (Sweagerbosk)
Zwagerbos / Sweagerbosk - "Flag: A green field with a Scandinavian cross;
at the intersection of the cross a red square.
Colors: Clear-green, clear-red, and white.
I've skipped the literal translation; it is very cumbersome and incomprehensible,
especially as in the epilogue the name "Scandinavisch kruis" is
used. Green in the flag refers to the "bos", forest, after which
the village is named. Nickname: Boskjemannen, referring to the hair
of the male inhabitants, comparing them to the "Bosjesmannen", Bushmen
in South Africa. Use nickname only in neighbouring villages!
Source: information from Kollumerland municipality.
Zwagerbos CoA
from Ralf Hartemink's site.
Registered in the Genealogysk Jierboek 1976.
The forest ("bos") in the villagename is represented in two trees.
The red color is for heather. On the heather sheep were grazing, represented
on the CoA with shears, while the bees seeking honey have also been placed
on the arms.
