Waaksens village

Waaksens is a village in Littenseradiel municipality, Fryslân province, not to be confused with Waaxens village in Dongeradeel municipality. This Waaksens used to be in the former municipality of Hennaarderadeel with (1958): 104 inh; (1974): 66. It is west of Wommels, on the road Bolsward-Franeker. The village is proud of its 13th (?) century church.
Nickname: "Lusjefersprikken" - match-sticks (very skinny people).
Waaksens CoA: in blue two golden points, issueing from the bottomrim of the chief till the bottomshieldrim; in base with a golden clover; a geen chief charged with two silver swimming ducks.
Flag: yellow with two blue points, standing on the hoist. reaching into the fly. The top point charged with a white swimming duck towards the hoist; the bottom point with a yellow clover towards the hoist.
The two wards of the vilage: the village-center and Toarnwert, are each represented by the golden points. They also show the letter *W*, the village's initial. The blue color is from the municipal arms. The golden clover refers to cattle-breeding and meadows. The ducks represent the village's cricketing abilities :-) and also the duck-cage, which according to old maps was to the north of the village. Green is again for the meadows.
In the flag the colors are reversed.
