Dantumawoude villageward

Dantumawoude is a villagequarter of Damwoude in the municipality of Dantumadeel, Fryslân. Until 1971 it was a separate village with the Frisian name of Damwâld; in 1971 the villages of Dantumawoude/Damwâld, Akkerwoude/Ikkerwâld, and Murmerwoude/Moarmwâld (in popular (very erroneous) etymology this was "Moardnerswâld" = Murderers wood, referring to St. Boniface's death) merged to form the new village of Damwoude/Damwâld. Damwoude doesn't have a flag (yet). The villagechurch of Dantumawoude dates from the 12th century, so it is a rather old (ex)village.
The "Vereniging van Dorpsbelangen wijk Dantumawoude" (Society for the interest of the villagequarter of Dantumawoude) has applied for a CoA and flag, which were granted by the Fryske Rie foar Heraldyk.
CoA: in gold an enhanced green basem charged with a golden curved base, charged with a red foxhead; in gold on the dividing line three white castles, open and windows; the left castle surmonté a green alderleave.
Flag: divided in two stripes yellow and red with a zigzag of three, and the red part has three points with height at 3/4 flagheight. At 1/10 flagheight from the top a narrowed green stripe of 1/10 flagheight. In the lower flycorner a white castle of 11/30 flagheight, open and windowed.
Because the village of Dantumawoude no longer exists the CoA and flag have been designed on behalf of the "vereniging van Dorpsbelangen wijk Dantumawoude".
The design has been made in such a way that it can also be used by the former village of Murmerwoude and Akkerwoude, with possibly different elements in the CoA. Furthermore it may serve as a basic design for the village of Damwoude.
The three castles spresent the three former villages, the alderleaf shows the relative geographical position of Dantumawoude, and at the same time points it the "woude"-part in the villagename.
The curved golden part in the base of the shield refers to a sandridge here, on which the three villages have been built. In gold is the red foxhead, referring to the presence of old here of foxes, and at the same time to the municipal arms.
The flag is a simplification of the CoA. The three points in the zigzanline represent the three former villages; the position of the
castle is again a representation of the relative geographical position of Dantumawoude. The alderleaf is replaced by the green stripe.
