This proposal for a colonial flag was made by the heraldist Franz Paul
Almaida Langhans. It is the Portuguese flag with the Macau shield in the lower
part of the fly (in the pattern of Mozambique and others). The shield of Macau
is the same as other provinces except that the upper left part is white with
five shields with the five white quinas (circles). In the lower center are
waves of green (symbolic of the sea in Portugal) and white. In the upper right
of the shield is a blue background with a golden dragon bearing a blue shield
with five white quinas. The shield can be seen in the image of the Macau army
commandant.
