Presentation of Ilinden

The municipality of Ilinden (15,894 inhabitants; 97.02 sq. km) is made of the town of the same name and the 11 settlements of Ajvatovci, Bujkovci, Bunardžik, Bučinci, Deljadrovci, Kadino, Marino, Miladinovci, Mralino, Mrševci and Tekija.
It was the place of the Macedonian uprising against the Ottomans in 1903, known as the Ilinden Uprising.

Municipal flag of Ilinden

The municipal flag of Ilinden is vertical, in proportion 2:1, red with a yellow sun with twelve "drop-like" rays placed in the upper part of the flag, a yellow stripe placed along each vertical side of the flag and stretching from the middle of the sun to the bottom of the flag, and a diagonal yellow stripe linking both vertical stripes.

The sun is another variation of the Macedonian national flag, and the yellow stripes build an inverted N, which probably represent the Cyrillic initial (И) of Ilinden.

The flag shown on the municipal website of Ilinden has the sun rays slightly different.
