I applied to Klaipeda municipality for more info on Klaipeda
flag, and I'd received the answer from Nijole Lazutkiene,
superrior specialist of Information technologies dept., and Vidas
Pakalnikis, superrior specialist of Culture dept. Here is
translation of description: "The flag of Klaipeda
city was created by Klaipeda Design Center. The flag was adopted
by Heraldry commission on June 18, 1992 (session report No 79).
The flag is almost quadratic, standard dimentions are 130 cm (129
cm) in length and 120 cm (119 cm) in width, ratio is about 1.08.
There is possible other dimensions according to this ratio there.
Computer version of the flag was made by closed stock company
Rodiklis.

The flag (two vertical bands yellow and red) and the coat of
arms of Klaipeda city (Klaipeda county - Klaipedos apskritis).
The flag is drawn by me according to logo of the 750th
Anniversary of Klaipeda City Foundation (old version of the site
of Klaipeda municipality - <www.klaipeda.lt>)
and personal observation from flag show in jubilee of
Mindaugas coronation 750th anniversary. The coat of arms I drew
according to the picture from the book: The Heraldry of
Lithuania.

Quite similar in symbolism and colours to the Memel District 1920-1939 flag. Klaipeda
and Memel are the same city, Klaipeda being its
Russian/Lithuanian name and Memel its German name.

We have a report from Audrius Slapsinskas about a municipal
flag as vertical yellow-red charged with the
Coat of Arms. (see Previously Reported Flag).
However, <www.misija.lt>
report a horizontal yellow over red with Coat of
Arms at canton. This is Memel District
1920-1939 flag.
