Virtually the same as the national flag. Military Aircraft Insignia of the World [cos98] claims it is the flag painted on the planes, however it is once shown in slanted position.

Fin Flash and Roundel, 1955-75

According to Cochrane & Elliot Military Aircraft Insignia of the World [cos98] before the Pathet Lao took over (1975), the Laotian air force used a fin flash of the national flag of the time- red with white elephants on steps, under a parasol, and on the wings & fuselage used red roundels with the same symbol.

The Laos fin flash was the then national flag: "upon a red background were three elephants under a parasol, representing the monarchy, standing on five steps , representing the five first commandments of Buddhism."

Aviation Royale Laotienne was formed in 1955 and until 1975 used a roundel based on the national flag of that era: the central device in white on red disc bordered in white. see http://www.aircommandos.org/BobAndDon/Episode0000-0016.jpg
