According to the KINS, the emblem's symbolism is:

In the KINS emblem, the image of the electronic orbit and brick colored quadrangle surrounding it represent nuclear facilities and its integrity respectively. A round arch shape in the lower part of the quadrangle symbolizes the eyes of regulators and the horizontal shape of the Earth. They represent KINS' will and commitment to play a leading role in improving and maintaining a high level of nuclear safety in Korea as well as worldwide. An abbreviated word, KINS, was designed to give the simple and strict feeling of a regulatory organization.
