From: Boone Scripophily:
Text: "Share of 500 Yen. blue, yellow, red, black. Unusually large vignette for a Japanese share, showing early Japanese sailing ships at sea, and the company flag. (...) Extremely rare piece." Date of issue, 1917.
The design is in tune with many other Japanese house flags of that period,
however, the western 'S' is rather striking.

Shinnihon Kisen K.K. formed 1947 as a
re-establishment of Tatsuuma Kisen K.K. with the name equating to New Japan
Steamship Co. Ltd., merging 1964 into Yamashita-Shinnihon Kisen K.K. The flag is
taken from the funnel bands of the previous company.
