in french yachting review "Bateaux" issue nov 1999,
an italian reader, N Accardi of Roma, states that the courtesy
flag which a foreign yacht should fly in italian waters is the
undefaced tricolour and not as I would have presumed the civil
ensign with CoA without crown.

At Lake "Lago di Bracciano", in Vigna di Valle,
Italy, is located the yacht club "Ali6 club vela".
Established in 1972 by a group of employees of the Italian
Airline "Alitalia". In 1996 the name was changed to
"Ali6 Club Vela" (Ali6 Sailing Club).

There is a chart with the flags of the yacht club "Circolo
del Remo e della Vela Italia", Napoli, Italy, established
November 20th, 1889 as "Canottieri Italia". The Clubīs
flag is a rectangular 2:3 red flag with a blue cross of St.
George and they have Rank flags. Itīs a very curious case, as
they have the Clubīs flag to represent the society as a whole,
but include, among the Rankīs flags, a memberīs flag . Usually
the clubīs flag is the one also used by members, but in this
case, members use a triangular shape, burgee.

Another important yacht club is the "Circolo Nautico Ugo
Costaguta", Voltri (Genova), Italy. Established in December
1898, the Clubīs flag is a white burgee with a red cross of St.
George, traditional symbol of Genoa (another Club from Genoa, the
Yacht Club Italiano, uses the same, but with colors reversed),
and a blue star in a white circle at the armsīintersection.
