Overview

According to Roberto Breschi presantation titled: "The Small Italian States Which Lasted Beyond 1700" at ICV 19 (York,2001), the 1:1 blue-white flag (and the standard with the CoA) were used until the begining of the 18th cent. when it was replaced by CoA on white.

Fieschi Family Standart

Source for the information about Masserano are Mario Dalceri and Vexilla Italica 2-1990.
Lordship was given by the Pope to the Fieschi family in 1394, and it was elevate to county by the Pope on 1506, to Marquisate 1547, and to principality 1598. In 1517 the Fieschi dinasty ended and it was transmised to the Ferrero family (Ferrero-Fieschi dinasty)

Ferrrero-Fieschi Dinasty Standart (1615-1700)

The flag of Masserano wans't changed with the Ferrrero-Fieschi dinasty. In 1614 the arms of Ferrero-Fieschi (quartered: 1 and 4 - azure lion on argent; 2 and 3 - The azure band on argent) were changed: the Emperor granted the Ferrero with the right to quartered the Ferrero arms (i.e. blue lion on white) with the imperial ones (black two headed eagle on white) with Fieschi scutcheon. The arms were added to the standard, but in a modified version where the scutcheon is not present and also other changes were made. This standard was in use around 1615-1700.
