Rahat is situated in the North Negev, just north of Be'er-Sheva. Established in 1970 and has 28,000 inh, all of them settled bedouins. Rahat in Arabic means group of people living together. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut ha-Pirsumim), YP 4424, 4 July 1996 and replaced the Local Council Rahat emblem which had been published in YP 2831, 1 July 1982.
