Description

Local Council Yavne'el (Yabnel, from Joshua 19:33) is situated in a small valley on the sloops of Naphtali Mounts, about 10 KMS SW to Tiberias on Afula-Kinneret road. Est. 1901 as Yama. Pop: 2,200. The Local Council also includes the settlements of Smadar (est. 1956), Bet-Gan (est. 1903) and Mishmar ha'Shlosha (est. 1937). In my visit I spotted two emblems, a municipal one and a 100th anniversary one. Flags showing the municipal emblem were:

  • white field with multicoloured emblem,
  • orange with multicoloured emblem,
  • green field with yellow emblem and
  • yellow field with black (should be green) emblem.
Flags showing the anniversary emblem were white, yellow and green with black emblem. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), 'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut ha'Pirsumim), YP 3412, 25 December 1986. Source: author's own observation, 2 October 2001.
