Local Council Mazkeret Batya (meaning Batya memorial after Baron Rothschild's mother) was established in 1882 as Eqron and got 6,500 inh. Situated in the Central District, Rehovot subdistrict, 5 km SE to Rehovot, 25 km from Tel-Aviv and 30 km from Jerusalem. At the city hall I spotted an orange flag with black emblem (one was also with orange fringes). The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), 'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut ha'Pirsumim), YP 706, 22 October 1959.
