Local Council Ko(k)hav Ya'ir (meaning star of Ya'ir) is situated NE of Kfar Saba on the western sloops of the Samaria Mounts, west of the Green Line (1949 ceasefire agreements border). Est. 1981, pop: 5,500. The Local Council is named after "Ya'ir" Shtern, the leader and commander of LEKHI (Lukhame Kherut Israel or Israel Freedom Fighters), the smallest underground group during the Mandate era.
The municipal emblem has not been published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut ha-Pirsumim). The mayor sent me a logo on white. Sources: e-mail from Mr. Yonathan Rimon, local council mayor, 16 September 2001; this webpage.
