Description

Local Council Even-Yehuda (meaning Juda's stone) is situated in the centre of the Sharon region SE of Netanya, west of Road 4 and east of Road 2. It was founded in 1932 and named after Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, who revived the Hebrew language in the 19th century. Pop. 8,000.

I visited the Local Council and obtained a good look at the flag, a desk flag showing a green municipal emblem on white and a copy of the municipal emblem. The unofficial flag is the municipal emblem on orange, this being the Sharon region colour. The emblem shows an orange tree, a water tower, a rooster and furrels, all evidence to the agricultural past of this Local Council. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), YP 633, 13 November 1958. Sources: author's own observation, 6 September 2001; desk flag; emblem; this webpage.
