Description

Al-Tira (meaning fort on hill in Arabic) is situated in the Sharon region, 7 km north to Kfar Saba. It is built on hills, including the highest hill in the shore plain. Founded about 400 years ago. Local council from 1952, municipality from 1991. Pop. 18,000, most of them Muslims. Mr. Wasim Kasem, municipality general manager, notified me that the municipal flag is emblem on white. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut ha-Pirsumim), YP 2089, 13 February 1975, the last one according to the previous legislation, for the then Local Council Al-Tira.
