The flag
Detail of the oval
The flag is square, quartered in white, red, blue and white.
In the first white field, there is the emblem of the Republic of
Croatia Armed Forces (Oruz<ane snage Republike Hrvatske). The
emblem is the same oval as on the flag of the Minister of Defense
and presidents of parliament and government, with different
symbols in it - a golden shield carring the Croatian coat of
arms, behind which there are two crossed swords in saltire (the
same kind of swords as on the Minister of Defense flag) with
white square each on the hilts. In lower part of the shield there
is lower end of a golden anchor, and at the top there is the
winged emblem of the Air Force - golden with red lozenge. The
wings enter partially into the golden border of the oval. The
size of the oval is the same as on the Minister of Defense flag,
that is approximately 43% of the flag hoist in height, and 34% in
width. The position is in the middle of the white field. This
emblem, similary as the emblem of the Minister of Defense is
authorised by law.
Zeljko Heimer, 30 October 1999
The flag is red square with white orle (inner border) and with
the emblem of a general in the middle. The emblem is the same as
the emblem for the Minister of Defense, but without the letter M.
The width of the white orle, and the width of the red border
around it are 1/16th part of the flag hoist each. This flag is
for use on the naval ships for generals of all (five) ranks.
Zeljko Heimer, 30 October 1999
The flag is blue square with white orle with the emblem in the
middle. The size of the orle is the same as in the flag of
general (1/16th from edge, 1/16th wide). The emblem is consisting
of the Croatian coat of arms in front of two yellow anchors in
saltire (as in ensign and jack) surrounded with a golden wreath.
This emblem is the same one as used on the headgear of the naval
officers .
Zeljko Heimer, 30 October 1999
Commander of Naval Ship Pennant (i.e. War Pennant): The
pennant is a triangular tricolour RWB with all three stripes
forming triangles (i.e. the stripes are getting thinner away from
hoist) with the Croatian coat of arms and crossed anchors. The
ratio is 1:10, and the vertical axis of the symbol is one hoist
size away from the hoist edge.
Zeljko Heimer, 30 October 1999
Staff Admiral (or Fleet Admiral, i.e. equal to rank of a
5-star general) [Stoz<erni admiral]: The flag is blue with red
(outer) and white (inner) border, each being 1/16th of the flag
hoist size (same as on the flags of general and the Navy
Commander). In the middle of the flag there is again red and
white bordered blue square, the size of it together with borders
being 1/2 the flag hoist, borders being 1/32 each (half the outer
borders). In the middle of the blue field is the coat of arms of
Croatia with two crossed anchors (as on naval ensgn and jack),
the emblem being approximately 1/4 of the flag size in width.
Zeljko Heimer, 1 November 1999
The flag is blue sqaure with border of red, white and blue
squares, 20 along one edge, as on the flag of the Minister of
Defense. In the middle of the flag there is a white square, 1/3
of the flag hoist in size, bordered with the same set of squares
apropriately smaller (i.e. the size of white field only, not
including its border, is 1/3 of flag hoist size). In the middle
of the white field there is again the coat of arms and anchors,
of the same size as on the staff admiral's flag (cca. 1/4 in
width).
Zeljko Heimer, 1 November 1999
Vice Admiral [Viceadmiral] - The flag is the same as the
admiral's flag, but with red field instead of blue.
Zeljko Heimer, 1 November 1999
Rear Admiral [Kontraadmiral] - The flag is the sam as the
admiral's flag, but the field being quartered in red and white.
