Pucišca is a community on the island of Brac in the
Split-Dalmatia County. The community is situated in the NE part
of the island, approximately over the Brac channel from the city
of Omiš, some 30 km SE of Split.
The town of Pucišca is in a deep well protected natural
harbour and as such it was early developed as a fishing port. The
information I received from Nikša pl. Kušcic from
Pucišca, based on the ministy approval of the symbols
earlier adopted by the community assembly (Rješenje
Ministarstva pravosuda, uprave i lokalne samouprave, Zagreb, 9.
rujna 2002. godine).
The Coat of Arms of Pucišca is: gules
thrteen towers argent massoned sable, three, two, three, two and
three. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the
middle. The Ceremonial Flag is pale yellow
gonfalon with three rectangular tails and fringe along the bottom
edges, with the coat of arms in the middle, the name of the
community in two arches above it and motto in a arch below it. In
the tails there are ornaments of vine, olive and oak branches.
The motto could be translated as "Drop by drop wears away
the stone." or maybe more literaly "Frequent drop wears
away the stone."
