Lovran is a community of about 4500 inhabitants just south of
Opatija some 10-15 km from Rijeka along the Istrian coast. Lovran
is health tourist resort with long tradition, apparently just as
old as neighbouting Opatija that started the Adriatic tourism in
Austria-Hungary. Opatija and Lovran are connected with a romantic
walking way lungo mare (along the coast).
The coat of arms of Lovran is in an oval shield a white tower on
a green base between two laurel branches proper and blue and
white wavy stripes in base. Lauren branches a canting for Lovran
(Croatian lovor = laurel).
The flag is green with the coat of arms in the middle.

There are four acts published in the official gazette, the
first adopting the symbols, the subsequent granting permitin of
the usage of the coat of arms in the flags of the football club,
the brass orchestra and the union of the sport associations of
Lovran:
- Odluka o grbu i zastavi Opcine Lovran, 28.11.1996,
Slubene novine upanije primorsko-goranske, br. 29/96,
12. prosinca 1996.
- Odluka o koritenju grba Opcine Lovran (53), 23.12.1997,
Slubene novine Primorsko goranske-upanije, br.29/97,
29. prosinca 1997.
- Odluka o koritenju grba Opcine Lovran (54), 23.12.1997,
Slubene novine Primorsko goranske-upanije, br.29/97,
29. prosinca 1997.
- Odluka o koritenju grba Opcine Lovran (56), 23.12.1997,
Slubene novine Primorsko goranske-upanije, br.29/97,
29. prosinca 1997.
The 1996 decision is one among few decisions in SN that also
include images. However, the images are considerably different
from that one shown in Ostric [osg02]!
Not only the images, but also the textual description. I can only
speculate that the Coat of Arms from [osg02]
is a proposal that was eventually not adopted.
So, the coat of arms is in a blue oval shield a white tower with
red roof on a green base between two laurel branches proper. The
flag is green with the coat of arms in the middle bordered
golden.
The ceremonial flag is prescribed to be further determined
"with an other decision". This other decision is not
published yet, but it may well be that there is a ceremonial flag
in use inspite.
