The Community of Kaptol is in the Poega and Slavonia
County some 10 km due north of Pozega
on the southern slopes of the Papuk mountains. 3,500 inhabitants,
some 1,300 in the main town. As the name suggest this was in
medieval times a seat of church authorities, renewed after the
liberation from Turks in 18th century. Even if small the place
has still a certain urban character entirely different from the
typicial Slavonian villages.
The Coat of Arms is shown on the County web site <www.pszupanija.hr> as
well as on the community site <www.opcina-kaptol.hr>.
No flag info for the time being. The Coat of Arms is gules an
epicopal staff or between a key also or wards to the chief dexter
and a sword erect argent hilted and pommed or. The church in
Kaptol is dedicated to St. Peter, so they charges refer to the
Saint and the former bishopric.
