Mace (Mac<e) is a community in the Krapina-Zagorje County
some 15 km south-east of Krapina.
Population 2,900, only some 700 in the village of the same name.
The Coat of Arms info is from Brako Balako via
Tomislav ipek. It may also be seen in not much useful form
at <www.mace.com.hr>.
The coat of arms of Mace is Azure a mount vert issuant from base
pierced with a sword argent hilted or in bend with water pouring
from the spot. I very much doubt that there is any
connection of the place name with the Croatian word for sword
"mac" that sounds quite similar, but it may very well
be that the sword was chosen to cant it anyway. The region with
numerous low tame hills surely gave rise to the use of the mount
in the Coat of Arms, but I suspect that there may be some other
interesting legend behind the symbolic. The spring water refers
probably to Sutinske Toplice, a termal spa in the vicinity.
At the moment I have no info on the flag.

Tomislav ipek reported that he observed the flag of Mace
when visting the place a few days ago. The flag is blue
with the golden bordered coat of arms in the middle.
