Overview

Sveti Martin na Muri is the northermost community in the Medjimurje County (so as well the northernmost in Croatia), few kilometers east of Mursko Središce and some 20 km north of Cakovec. There are almost 3,000 inhabitants in the community, though the main settlement Sv. Martin n/M. has hardly over 500 inhabitants.
The info on the flag adopted is from the local newspapers available on-line and the local sites: "Sveti Marin na Muri", Medimurske novine, br. 334, 30.01.2002, <www.mnovine.hr>. "Sveti Marin na Muri: Ulice dobivaju nazive", Medimurske novine, br. 350, 22.05.2002, <www.mnovine.hr>. "Spremni za Martinje i vinsku cestu", Medimurske novine, br. 372,
24.10.2002, <www.mnovine.hr>. "Blagoslovljeni novi opcinski grb i barjak", Medimurske novine, br. 375, 13.11.2002, <www.mnovine.hr>. Turisticka zajednica opcine Sv. Martin na Muri <www.tz-sv-martin.hr> 10.01.2004.
The coat of arms of Sv. Martin n/M. is gules a goose argent beaked and membered or carrying in beak a buch of grapes also or leaved vert and in base a bar wavy argent. The wavy line no doubt represents the Mura river, while the other charges stand for the traditional products of the community.
The flag is burgundy red with the coat of arms in the middle bordered yellow. (It may well be that the officially the flag colour is described simply as red, however, the photos seems to show all the distinctly different field colour then the clear bright red used in the coat of arms).
The ceremonial flag is also burgundy red with the coat of arms in the middle, the name of the community above and linden and vine branches below, ending triangularry with finge. Good photos of it could be found on the links mentioned above.
The articles do not mention the designer, though it seems fairly safe to suppose that it was the Heraldik art d.o.o from Rijeka. The symbols were adopted around April 2002.
