Presentation of Attica

Attica (in Greek, Attiki) is a paeninsula of continental Greece, Athens (in Greek, Athinai) being its most important city. According to Encyclopaedia Universalis, Attica is one of the 13 Greek administrative regions and is made of the single department of Attiki, one of the 51 Greek departments. The area of the region of Attica is 3,808 sq. km and its population (1991) is more than 3,500,000 inhabitants, that is 34% of the whole population of Greece. Greater Athens (433 sq. km) represents 85% of the population of the region.

Description of the flag

The flag of Attica is similar to the flag of Athens but without the disk with the head of Goddess Athena. Each municipality of Attica has this flag but in the disk has its own symbols.
