The Société Navale Nord-Africaine was founded in Oran (Algeria) by David Hyaffil and associates (Loewy, Rosenbaum & Co.) as a part of a larger business involving ship purchase, resale and chartering. The shipping branch was transfered to Marseilles in 1923 and suppressed in 1925.

The house flag of Société Navale Nord-Africaine is white with a black shield of David in the middle and the red letters S N N A in the corners of the flag. The shield of David recalls the Jewish origin of the company owners.
