"Riverworld" is a tetralogy by famous US SciFi writer Philip José Farmer (_Deathless
world_(?), _Journey beyond Death_(?), _Dark Design_ and _The Magic
Labyrinth_). Cutting short, it's about a planet with a huge single river, where dead people find themselves "ressurected" again and again.

Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) is the capitain of a large wheel ship named "Mark Twain", later
renamed to "Not for rent [II]", whose ensign and (identical) jack are
briefly discribed: It's a plain light blue flag with a red phoenix bird thereon (jack described
as "blue", not light, though I doubt any difference was intended). The
symbolism is obvious, as these people (35-35 billion estimate) keep
"resurecting" everytime they die, always in a naked and more or less young
body, somewhere along the immense river valley.
