Description

Trasmediterránea is the best known of Spanish shipping companies, current logo here.

Santiago Dotor, 25 February 1999

Eduardo Martín reported in the Spanish Vexilologia mailing list that:

  • The former house flag was replaced as a consequence of the change of corporate image which took place in 1991. The colours of the new logo were defined as Pantone 280 and 375. Source: Trasmediterránea. Hacia el Nuevo Milenio, published in the company's 80th anniversary
  • The current house flag is a white pennant with the current logo, the blue-white-green 'T'.
  • The house flag is usually displayed from the jackstaff on Transmediterranea ships travelling across the Strait of Gibraltar from Algeciras to Ceuta.

Santiago Dotor, 3 July 2002

Trasmediterránea will most probably be about to use a new house flag, since recently the corporate group it belongs to, Acciona, has decided to unify the corporate image of all its subsidiaries, as can be seen in the company website.

Corporate flag

I recently spotted the above flag flying from the balcony of a Trasmediterránea office, together with a Spanish national flag with lettering which I guess was the postal ensign.

José Manuel Erbez, translated by Santiago Dotor, 2 July 2002

Eduardo Martín reported in the Spanish Vexilologia mailing list that the flag above, reported by José Manuel Erbez, is not a house flag (i.e. is not flown on ships), it is rather a corporate flag (flown from buildings).

Former house flag

A triangular flag, red, with a white border all around and a white disc at the hoist charged with the overlapping letters C and T [for Compañía Trasmediterránea] in red.

Eduardo Martín reported in the Spanish Vexilologia mailing list that:

  • The former house flag already appeared as part of the company's logo in the instrument by which the company was established, dated 25th November 1916. The former company logo can be seen here. It is very similar to the image below, except for the font used for the lettering.
