Description

I spent some days in Cantabria in August 2000. San Vicente de la Barquera, very near the border with Asturias, has a light blue-white-light blue vertical tricolour with the arms (circle-shaped) on the middle stripe.

I got the arms from a San Vicente de la Barquera webpage. Another webpage just presented the bicolor triband without the arms.

In August 2000 I saw several local flags on my visit to San Vicente de la Barquera, and the arms were all circle-shaped, more like a US state seal. I have been unable however to find an example of this arms. The official city website shows on its home page one similar to that in Blas Delgado's GIF, but browsing within it I found a photograph of the city hall showing the local flag. Basically, the arms is like the escutcheon (including bordure with lettering, but no cartouche or crown) in Blas Delgado's GIF, only in the shape of a circle.

Source: Eduardo Panizo's Vexilla Hispanica website now shows both the flag with seal-like arms as former flag and the above flag as current.
