Description

According to the Manual del Estado Español (Handbook of the Spanish State, Spanish text only) by Editorial Lama:

  • flag (without date): "constituida por cuatro barras rojas horizontales sobre fondo amarillo, con un castillo de siete torres en cada una de las esquinas" i.e. four red stripes on a yellow field, with a seven-towered castle in each corner;
  • coat-of-arms (without date): "un castillo de tres torres sobre fondo cuatribarrado, con la corona de los Reyes de Aragón, corona marquesal".

Pascal Vagnat, 16 July 1999

The flag is the Aragonese-Catalan flag —nine horizontal stripes yellow and red— with, in each corner, a seven-towered golden castle over a single blue wave. Pascal Gross's image is based on an official handbook of the Govern Balear (autonomous government) which details the community's flag and arms as well as those of the three island councils.
