After 1776, there are paintings of Algerine scenes in which flags of red and yellow stripes appear.
These were also the colors of the majority of the regimental flags, as is shown by the approximately 100 flags captured by the French after 1830. Flags of two, three, four, five, and six stripes appear among the French trophies.

Other colors also appear in a French book of 1776, also using stripes, which seem to be the most common designs used by Algerine ships (five or six stripes in various colors being the most general pattern followed).
This last flag is also described with a round fly by Dubreil and Siegel [sig12].
