Description

Falkenberg is a small town in Elbe-Elster county. It lies at the crossing of two important railroads, from Berlin to Dresden and from Leipzig to Cottbus. The importance of the railroads for the town is reflected in the arms. The flag was adopted in 1987 and is green-yellow-green in proportions 1:2:1 with the arms on the yellow stripe. The colours of the arms changed in 1993 (e.g. the field was red previously). Source: Günther 1995 (Erwin Günther, Ostdeutsche Stadtflaggen (1): Land Brandenburg, in Der Flaggenkurier, no. 1, 1995).
