Adopted 23.01.1991, according to Dirk Schönberger's Administrative Divisions of the World website. From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:
After the county reform (...) new arms were granted on May 24, 1974. The arms show in the first quarter the arms of Rastatt city [the so-called Raste, a device used by grape-farmers to carry materials], in the second the grapes taken from the arms of the former county Bühl [symbolising viticulture, one of the main agricultural activities], the lower part shows again the rose of [the Counts of] Eberstein and the bend of Baden. For heraldic reasons the rose was changed in colour.Literature: Stadler 1964-1971; H.G. Zier and P. Futterer, Wappenbuch des Landkreises Rastatt, Stuttgart, 1966; H. John, H. Köckert and G.
