This added a golden shield, fimbriated white, in the center with a black eagle holding a white scroll with the inscription Einigkeit Recht Freiheit (Unity Law Freedom). This motto stems from the third stanza of the German national anthem, that is also nowadays national anthem Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit für das deutsche Vaterland.
