Paseka belonged from the 2nd half of the 14th century till the Battle
on the White Mountain to the Castle Sovinec; that is why the communal CoA
went back to the arms of the first and most important lords of the castle,
of the Sovinec family, who had a shield half red and the other half striped
argent-noir. In the proposed CoA is the crest red and therein the golden
crown - attribute of St. Kunhuta, who was the patroness of the church,
and who is also on the municipal seal. The fleur-de-lis petals on the crown
are there because the church was originally devoted to the Virgin Mary.
In the argent field three noir slanting bars, derived from the sinister
half of the Lords of Sovinec. The staff of Aesculapius, a universal symbol
of medicine, points at the
important pulmonary sanatorium, belonging to the village of Paseka.
The flag repeats the figures of the CoA; but the crest is here a red field
to the hoist.

In the Czech Republic is obligatory the verbal description of the flag (and CoA too). So it is necessary to adhere by it, not by the picture. The official verbal description:
List tvoří červený žerďový pruh široký dvě pětiny délky listu se žlutou korunou a bílé pole se třemi černými šikmými pruhy vycházejícími z první, třetí a páté šestiny dolního okraje bílého pole do druhé, čtvrté a šesté šestiny horního okraje pole. Na prostředním pruhu bílá Aesculapova hůl ovinutá žlutým hadem přesahující do bílých pruhů. Poměr šířky k délce listu je 2 : 3.
The flag consists of two vertical srtripes, two fifth of flaglength broad red with yellow crown and white with three black oblique stripes rising from the first, third and fifth sixth of lower edge of white field and terminating in the second, fourth and sixth sixth of upper edge of white field. On the middle stripe is white Aeskulap wand embraced by yellow snake extended to white stripes. The ratio of broad to length is 2:3.
So, the last stripe on the flag of Paseka on www-pages
is wrong. Other details are O.K. because they are not in discrepancies
with the verbal description. The detail design is depending of the author
- of course it must be in accordance with a verbal description.
