Janov has (31 Dec 2000) 1718 inhabitants. The first written trace of
the village dated back to 1573. History of the village is closely connected
with Ondráš, chief of outlaws, named "Lord of Lysá Hora". He was a son
of the bailiff of Janovice. In 1715 he was killed by his companion - Juráš.
