Number of inhabitants by 31.12. 2000: 513. The village ranks among the oldest settlements in the Jeseníky mountains. In the  Deed of Foundation issued in 1224 the name of the village was Lechsdorf. In past Leskovec endured much misery, namely during the Hussite wars from 1420 - 1432 and in 1474 - 1476 when the region was heavily devastated by severe struggles  between Matyáš Korvín, Hungarian king, and Kazimír I, Polish king. In 1623 Leskovec became livelong property of the family of Lichtenstein. During the thirty-year war (1618-1648) various troops marched there, devastated towns and villages, and robbed people. The period from 1642 to 1650 was extremely difficult. At those years, Leskovec was captured by Swedes. In 1780 a trivial school was founded in the village. In 1852 first factory buildings were built. In those building a flax spinning mill started working. In 1895 the plant was bought by A.Rudolph from Austria and a knitting mill was opened there. After World war II the textile plant was replaced with a plastic press shop.
