Overview

Limon Province adopted a flag Limon (first hoisted 21 July 1992). Curiosely the governor of Limon (Mm. Florita Wing Ching Sandi) answered my request since she was a member of the jury that selected the design. Before that, two other designs were in use,  but they were unofficials.

Limon used unofficially two different flags before the adoption of the official one, according comunication from Florita Wing Ching Sandi, alcaldesa Municipal de Limon, dated 24 August 1998. Mrs Wing Ching was, before to be alcaldesa, member of the jury that selected the official provincial flag. Provincial fllag was first hoisted 21 July 1992.

Limon: a sailing ship represents a maritime province, the key is a connection to the Roman Catholic church (see the Vatican flag, for example), and the tree would be a local crop - could it be banana?  The wreath is laurel (peace) and coffee.
