Intro

Also, as in other Chilean flags with stars does not seem to have any detailed prescription regarding the sizes and the exact poitions of the stars, so I have followed the drawings in Album 2000 [pay00] (that, as a rule, follows the Flaggenbuch 1939 [neu39]). I believe that the eventual error introduced so could not be that great.

Vice Admiral not in command

At least during World War II the flag of a Vice admiral was different if he was commanding (this one) from if he wasn’t (red instead of blue), ie. the same principle as with rear admiral. (Source: Jane’s Fighting Ships of World War II [jfs98]
Marcus Wendel, 05 Sep 1999

This confirmed neither by Flaggenbuch [neu39] nor by Album [pay00]. We can guess it was only used during Second World War.

Rear Admiral with Command in Chief

Already shown in Flaggenbuch [neu39], with the same allocation, and also «als Chef des Stabes in Ministerium (as Chief of Staff in Ministery). If the ministery of Navy was suppressed, that allocation automatically disappeared, too.
