You can find information about the Stratford Town Flag on our web site at www.town.stratford.pe.ca/about/about.cfm. You can also find information about the Town crest, which forms part of the flag on that page. Our flag was unveiled in 2002. We held a contest to submit flag designs that incorporate the Town logo. The selection committee did not think any one design submitted was exactly what the Town was looking for and local designer, Ken Shelton, was hired to take some of the good ideas submitted and design a flag for the Town. The original flag dimensions were 4 feet by 6 feet but we later changed it to 3 feet by 6 feet to ensure that the flag was not larger than the Canadian flag when flown next to it.

The symbolism of the flag involves:

- the armorial banner contains the Town of Stratford coat of arms
- the Canadian maple leaf represents the five founding communities that amalgamated in 1995. i.e., Bunbury, Southport, Cross Roads, Keppoch/Kinlock, and Battery Point.
- The Province of Prince Edward Island is represented by the oaks and lion.
- The solid green band represents the road and the land
- The solid blue band represents the water.
