About the Flag of Avaré

The flag is a horizontal tricolor, flag green (i.e., the same shade of green as the Brazilian flag), white, and celestial blue (the same shade as the national flag as well), with the municipal coat of arms on the center. It was designed by the poet Anita Ferreira de Maria, who explained that the green was for the fields, woods, and coffee, the economic base of the municipality. The white is for peace, serenity, and the pacific temperament and religious spirit of the people. The blue is for the sky. The coat of arms is divided per bend sinister, blue with the primitive chapel that is the religious landmark of the founding of the town, and green with a white bar wavy representing the Rio Novo. The scroll is inscribed with Avaré's date of founding and date of municipal status on either side of the name.
