About the Flag of Treze Tilias

The flag is red with a white whield bearing the arms of the municipality. The red and white are the colors of the Austrian flag as well as the flag of Santa Catarina. The coat of arms is yellow with a black displayed eagle, the eagle being the motif on the arms of Tyrol (Treze Tílias being nicknamed the "Brazilian Tyrol" and having been settled in large part by Tyroleans). In addition to the difference in color (the Tyrolean eagle being red on white), the arms of Treze Tílias are differenced by inclusion of a blue escutcheon on the eagle's breast bearing the five stars of the Southern Cross (Cruzeiro do Sul). The shield is flanked by a stalk of maize and a grape vine. The scroll has the name of the municipality and the date of its founding, 13 October 1933. The yellow field of the coat of arms is said to stand for prosperity.
