Historical Badge

image by David Prothero, 12 August 2002

The badge used on the Union Jack and Blue Ensign before 1910. The badge was based on a sketch, made in 1869, of the 1817 seal, which depicted a wet dock of the time.  It may have been introduced in 1869, or possibly not until 1875, when the badge was approved by the Admiralty.
David Prothero, 12 August 2002

Bermuda used circular seal in 1869 flag. In 1910 it was changed to use of the arms.

1960' Flag

image by Clay Moss, 25 November 2005

As reported, the Bermudan red ensigned was locally used with a white disc in the 1960-1970ies.
António Martins , 24 May 2000

Bermuda red ensign with the shield on a disk based on a photo of the same flag that was recently up for auction on e-bay. In the photo, I can see what appears to be an Annin label in the heading. The shield in the photo is trimmed in yellow gold which is itself held in a thin red holding line. This image is accurately mimics a couple of other Bermuda red ensigns with disks that I have personally seen, which had black holding lines around the shield down to the grassy area. They were fairly old, and apparently British made as per their proportions and headings.
