The VVW was founded in Antwerp in 1932, as the Vlaamsche Vereeniging voor Watertoerisme, in opposition to French-speaking yacht clubs.
The VVW seems to unite an impressive number of clubs (sailing, diving, canoeing...) It seems that there are two kinds of clubs affiliated to the VVW:

The burgee of the VVW is a triangular yellow flag with a black cross voided throughout and the VVW emblem in canton. Possibly the stylized bird emblem on the flag is the blauwvoet, symbolic of Flemish aspirations since the XIXth century.
The image shown above, as well as the other images on this page, was drawn after the VVW website (flag etiquette page).

The flag of the President of the VVW is a rectangular version of the VVW burgee.

The flag of the VVW board members and President of the associated clubs is a rectangular version of the VVW burgee with a small fork (c. 1/10 of the overall flag length).
Ivan Sache, 24 August 2003
The flag of the board members of the clubs forming the VVW is similar to the VVW burgee, with a black disk placed in the lower left quarter.
