Description of the flag

This is the flag of the Bondi Beach Surf Club, seen behind the bar of an hotel in Glebe, Sydney (not exactly next to Bondi Beach). The identification was provided by the bartender who couldn't provide any other information.

The symbolism seem to be pretty straightforward, the beach under the sun with the sea and the australian symbol [the southern cross] at the upper fly (though oddly, using eight- pointed stars).

Looking at the club's website www.bondisurfclub.com for confirmation of the flag, all I could find is this quote in the 1940-49 section of the history:

The Bondi Club flag has a proud heritage. It has been carried all around the world, and even flew during World War II in Palestine, Bouganville and in the Phillipines. The Standard left Australia in November 1940 and returned in November 1945, following our brave members through many theatres of war.
